| BASICS OF PHOTOGRAPHY Learn the basics of taking better
pictures of family,
vacations, candids, portraits and landscapes. Sessions
will include instruction in the basic principles of film
and digital picture taking. Special emphasis will be
given to learning how your equipment works and
how to get the most out of the features of your
camera. Important topics covered will be
photographic composition, exposure control, flash
photography and film and digital media types.
Students should have a camera with manually
adjustable capabilities.
This course is a prerequisite for Digital Photography -
Level I and Intermediate Photography
Instructor: Richard Wallis Sessions: 5 Fee: $64 Course: #20301 Date/Time: June 25 - July 30 (No class 7/2), Wed, 6:30 - 8:30 pm INTERMEDIATE PHOTOGRAPHY This course is designed for
the person who
has already acquired some basic
knowledge in photography. The course will
further expand your abilities in
composition, design, lighting, camera
technique, flash and macro photography.
In addition, we will work with such things
as lens choice, depth of field,
evaluation/editing and basic photo
manipulation. All these principles apply to
all types of photography, whether you are
using film or digital capture. We will spend
the last evening in the studio.
Students should have a camera and a
basic knowledge of its functions.
Instructor: Danny Izzo Sessions: 6 Fee: $72 Course: #20302 Date/Time: June 17 - Aug 5 (No class 7/1 & 7/22), Tues, 7 - 9 pm DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - LEVEL I Unable to get those photos to display or print correctly? This course can help you! Learn the art of digital picture taking including working with your camera, controls, and resolution. You will be introduced to the different types of output and uses as well as building a digital library. The last 2 sessions will be conducted in a computer lab to facilitate hands-on instruction with opening and saving different file types, evaluating digital images, as well as editing and adjusting digital files. Must be familiar with the mouse and keyboard, opening and closing programs and managing files and folders. Prerequisite - Basics of Photography.
Instructor: Kevin Leigh Session: 5 Fee: $87 Course: #21320 Date/Time: July 9 - 24 (No class 7/23), Wed & Thurs, 6:30 - 8:30 pm DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - LEVEL II This course is for students who seek
a
deeper understanding of digital
photography. Learn the strengths and
drawbacks of each shooting mode,
exposure, using histograms, fill flash to
even range-of-light problems, and the
highlight feature. Students will be given
assignments and will review in class, while
getting further hands-on experience using
Adobe Photoshop to enhance and correct
images. Participants should be
comfortable with using their digital
camera in at least two (2) of these
shooting situations: scenic, portrait, sports,
action, macro, or architectural. Students will
benefit most if their cameras have capacity
to operate in manual mode; have user
adjustable white balances; a user
adjustable ISO; and user adjustable flash
output. Students should be comfortable
downloading and moving digital files.
Basic knowledge of an image adjustment
program (e.g.: Picture It!; Photoshop/
Elements/ LT; Microsoft Photo Editor; Jasic
Photo Editor; etc.) will enhance student
success.
Prerequisite - Digital Photography - Level I
Instructor: Joseph H.Pons Sessions: 4 Fee: $94 Course: #21606 Date/Time: Aug 19 - 28, Tues & Thurs, 6:30 - 9 pm ADVANCED STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY The techniques of studio and
location
photography are fully explored. Classes take
place in an operating photography studio.
Lighting, from single light to multiple
lighting setups, as well as metering light
sources, light balance, and light
modification are demonstrated and
practiced. This is a very hands-on class. We
will also explore mixing outdoor light with
artificial light. Basic lighting and posing for
classic portraiture are covered in depth.
Students must provide a camera, a working
knowledge of its use and a willingness to
work in a group. Students should also have
knowledge of how apertures and shutter
speeds work and a camera capable of
operating on full manual. SLR cameras are
best but any camera that can be operated
on full manual will suffice.
