Students will be given assignments and will review in class, while getting further hands-on experience using Adobe Photoshop to enhance and correct images. Participants should be comfortable with using their digital camera in at least two (2) of these shooting situations: scenic, portrait, sports, action, macro, or architectural. Students will benefit most if their cameras have capacity to operate in manual mode; have user adjustable white balances; a user adjustable ISO; and user adjustable flash output. Students should be comfortable downloading and moving digital files. Basic knowledge of an image adjustment program (e.g.: Picture It!; Photoshop/ Elements/ LT; Microsoft Photo Editor; Jasic Photo Editor; etc.) will enhance student success. ADVANCED STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY

The techniques of studio and location photography are fully explored. Classes take place in an operating photography studio. Lighting, from single light to multiple lighting setups, as well as metering light sources, light balance, and light modification are demonstrated and practiced. This is a very hands-on class. We will also explore mixing outdoor light with artificial light. Basic lighting and posing for classic portraiture are covered in depth. Students must provide a camera, a working knowledge of its use and a willingness to work in a group. Students should also have knowledge of how apertures and shutter speeds work and a camera capable of operating on full manual. SLR cameras are best but any camera that can be operated on full manual will suffice.
