LEARNING TO LEARN


Looking forward to acquiring strong, study skills? Interested in becoming a master student? Learn more in less time with little effort. This course will lead to your academic success! These sessions will assist students with focusing on time-management schedules, effective study methods, test-taking strategies, notetaking skills, and organizational skills. Each student will prepare a master notebook - an important product to use as a portable filling system and reference source. Binder and supplies are included. Class size is limited.

SOLVING THE MATH MYTH

Join in the fun and develop a life-long skill that will aid in better understanding the world of numbers. Learn multiplication and division through the use of touch points, hand play, and memory games. Apply facts to solve word problems by selecting the process of multiplication or division. For grades 3rd - 5th.

IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION

This course is for students who have good word recognition skills, but forget what is read immediately after the process is completed. Comprehension strategies that help increase understanding will be modeled. Study techniques that facilitate long-term memory will be discussed and modeled on various kinds of reading materials. Your child will learn how to hear the message, understand the message, and judge the message influence on interpersonal communication. SPEEDREADING JR. NEW

Join a real surgery team while enjoying a hands-on approach to science.We will dissect a sheep’s eyeball and a fetal pig. For ages 6 - 13. Students must be able to comfortably handle a pair of scissors.

BIODIVERSITY SCIENCE CAMP NEW

Do you have a passion for science and want to experience what it means to be a biologist? Join us for a week of serious scientific methodology and experiments. Begin your preparation by studying Human Anatomy and Physiology along with CPR/ First Aid training. Your education will continue with various exercises and experiments including: Cultivating live organisms and recording your observations, Testing organisms’ responses to different stimuli, Taxonomy (classification), Microscopy techniques, and Dichotomous keys. End your week with a private tour of a university science laboratory and a special guest lecture by a university professor of biology. All students will receive a journal and lab coat. Class is limited to 12 serious students. Certificates will be awarded. Students who successfully complete CPR/Training will earn Certification Cards. Ages 10 - 13 years. Includes all supplies.

ME‘N MY PC

Cybercampers will be introduced to the wonders of technology using entertaining activities that will encourage their enjoyment of a computer. Campers will learn how to use the mouse and keyboard in fun-filled games and exercises to promote good typing skills. We will create a PowerPoint presentation and a personal digital photo magnet keepsake! Parents are invited on the last day of camp for show and tell! Certificates from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be awarded. Ages 5 - 7. Morning snacks included.

Campers will get live demonstrations on the inside of a computer and what makes it tick, as well as a computer network and how to set up your own small network at home. Join us for a fun-filled week of learning on the cutting edge of technology.
