Calling all pre-schoolers! Bring your Mom, Dad or Grandparents to the Children’s Museum of Acadiana for four pre-school workshops focusing on art, music, kinesthetics, and dramatic play based on wonderful classic children’s literature. With your parent, you will become characters in the stories, practice body movement, sing songs together, and create some amazing art projects. Parent Grandparent /child bonding a must! The stories change with every session so even if you have taken the class before it is always new. Ages 3 - 5 years. Includes all supplies.Held off-campus.

FASHION STYLING 

Get ready for a High Fashion Summer! By recognizing the significance of the elements of art and design in fashion styling, students will learn to effectively coordinate clothing and accessories to produce results reflective of their personal taste. In this course we will also explore the various ways in which certain garments work to enhance the figure and how others have the opposite effect. The class will conclude with a fashion show in which students will show off their styling skills. For girls 12 and up. Bring your brown bag lunch.

Are you up for this mystery challenge? The stakes are high and time is running out. A crime has been committed and we need your help! Listen carefully, remember what you hear and see - Observation and Recall are what you need. Possible suspects and witnesses are everywhere, clues and hints are hidden well - good Decision Making will keep you swell. You’ll need to rely on members of your investigation squad - Teamwork is the key! Use Deductive Reasoning to solve puzzles, riddles and dismiss the frauds. Fingerprinting and chromatography are only some of the challenges you will have to face. Do you have what it takes to close this case? Snacks and supplies are included. Bring a brown bag lunch.

WHEN I GROW UP
NEW

This camp is for the 7 - 11 year old with an active imagination, quick wit, and desire to have a lot of fun this summer. We'll spend our week becoming an expert in several different fields. Architect: Using common household products we'll build several structures that will make Frank Lloyd Wright jealous. Secret agent: Your mission will require you to conduct surveillance, make and break secret codes, uncover important secrets, interrogate persons of interest and hunt for a mole within your ranks! Environmentalist: Using recycled products we will unleash the artist within all of us. Rocket Scientist: Using an ordinary soda pop bottle we will design and build our very own rocket, and launch them using water and compressed air. A few board games, puzzles, and other boredom busters will make our week at camp a full one. Ages 7 - 11 years.

This week is especially for those 4 and 5 year olds who are ready for adventure! Each day we'll celebrate with a different theme. We’ll play games, create a craft project, and read a story that relates to the theme of the day! Down on the Farm - Come ready to herd cows and discuss all of our favorite farm animals. Secret Agent - Be ready to solve the mystery, and find out if there is a double agent among us! Safari - Parents Beware! It could get wild as your little one transforms into their favorite jungle animal today! Under the Sea - Big Fish, Little Fish, Octopuses, and even Sharks are all under the sea and today's our day to find it all! Pirates and Princesses - We'll wrap up our week like Royalty... hopefully we find the treasure before we have to “Walk the Plank”. Ages 4 & 5 years. All supplies included.

ACT IT OUT! KIDS WORKSHOP IN IMPROVISATION

Come join us for a fun filled day of games and training devoted to the acting style of improvisation. The games encourage kids to listen, use their imagination, work together, make choices and develop self-confidence. Local actor/director Bruce Coen will lead your children through a journey where they will find out more about themselves and the world around them without realizing it as they joyfully "play." TAE KWON DO FOR YOUTH

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art which emphasizes a variety of blocking and striking techniques as a means of self-defense, physical fitness, and self discipline. The Tae Kwon Do student will be introduced to fun, exciting, and challenging activities and topics that stress goal setting, discipline, self-control, physical fitness, and coordination.
