How do I use this website?

Browse our catalog online: Click on "courses" on the menu bar to the left to browse by content area.  Or click on "search" on the menu bar to find a specific class by title, instructor, or dates. Full course descriptions, teacher biographies, directions, and other pertinent course information can be accessed by clicking on the course titles.

Request a printed catalog: Click on the catalog image in the top left to provide us with your mailing address and we will send you a catalog.

Sign in: If you are new to our site, you will need to create a new student profile. Creating a profile will provide you with your own personal, password-protected account. Having an account will allow you to register online and track your course selections. Click on "sign in" on the menu bar to the left and follow the prompts.

Items in blue are required information. Please choose a login that you will remember easily. You will receive a copy of your profile via email.

After you have created a student profile (and on subsequent visits when you sign in), you will notice additional menu options that will allow you to edit your profile, check your current registrations, and view your transactions.

Register Online: Browse through the catalog and click the boxes next to the classes that you are interested in; then add them to your shopping cart. Follow the directions to complete your registration at our secured site with your credit card. You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.
How do I know if there is space available? If a class is already filled, the box will be black and you will not be able to check it. You will be able to select an option of being placed on a waiting list.
Can I register a friend or family member? Yes, you will be prompted for how many spaces you want. Or, your friend or family member can create their own account and register with their own profile.  Families also have the option of creating household profiles.

When do classes meet?

The Continuing Education Department offers four terms each year: the fall term runs from late September through mid-December; the winter term runs from late January through March; the spring term runs from April through May; and the summer term runs from June through August.

Classes meet for as few as one or as many as twenty sessions on the weeknights, weekends and weekdays. Class days, dates, and times are specified in the course descriptions and printed on email confirmations.

What holidays does UL Lafayette Continuing Education observe?

The Continuing Education department observes the university holiday schedule.  Days on which classes will not be held are noted in the "Special Notice" section for each class.  Specifics about scheduling are included with each course description.

Where do classes meet?

Most classes meet in the Continuing Education Center, at 1606 Johnston Street, between Mildred Street and Albert Street, near Bisbano's and next to campus.  Some classes are held at our Brook St Annex building, the Conference Center and in specialized laboratories throughout campus.  Room assignments for classes will be announced in the confirmation letter once the class is confirmed.

Who is eligible to take classes with UL Lafayette Continuing Education?

UL Lafayette Continuing Education welcomes people from all communities and of any race, color, sexual orientation, religion, and national or ethnic orientation. Classes are open to people of high-school age and older, unless otherwise indicated in the course description.  We also offer a Youth category for our younger students.

When can I sign up?

Registration opens August 18th and stays open until the first day of the class as long as space remains available. Many classes fill quickly, so we encourage you to register early.

What are your policies for payment of fees?

Full tuition must accompany your registration. If registering online payment may be made by Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express.  If paying with cash, money order or check you may register by mail or by coming in person to the Continuing Education Center.

Is there a registration fee?

No, we do not charge an additional registration fee.  All course and supply fees are noted in course description.

How do I register?

On the internet: You can register for Continuing Education classes by clicking on the "sign in" link at left. Then click on the "courses" link to browse through our catalog. When you find classes that you want to take, add them to your shopping cart and then complete your order via our secure server.

By mail: Mail your completed registration form with check or money order to: UL Lafayette, Continuing Education, PO Box 42411, Lafayette, LA 70504.

By fax (337-482-6392): Fax the completed registration form with your credit card information, 24 hours every day.

In person: You may register in person at our Continuing Education Center during regular office hours, Monday - Thursday, from 7:30am to 5:00pm, and on Fridays from 7:30am - 12:30pm.  Payment may be made by credit card, cash, check, or money order. The office is located at 1606 Johnston Street, between Mildred Street and Albert Street, near Bisbano's and next to campus.

Can I sign up a friend or family member?

Yes, you may pay for a guest to take a class with you, but you will need to complete a separate registration for each person. When registering online, each person must have a student profile. If you are registering by mail or fax, complete separate registration forms for each person.

Can I purchase gift certificates?

Yes. Share the magic of lifelong learning! Purchase a gift certificate for a specific class or for a dollar amount that can be applied to a class of the recipient’s choice. Email us at ce@louisiana.edu for information on how to purchase a gift certificate.

How will I know if I get into a class?

If you register yourself online, you will be able to see whether there is still space available in a class. Once you complete the necessary payment information, you are registered. You will receive an email registration confirmation within 24 hours.

If you register by mail, fax or in person you will receive a telephone call or a letter by mail once the class is confirmed.

What happens if a course is full?

If the course you select is full, you can ask to be placed on a waiting list. If you paid by credit card, check or cash you will receive a phone call and have the option to transfer to another class or be refunded.  

If space opens up in the class, we will advise you.

Can a class be cancelled because of low enrollment?

In most cases there is a minimum number of students for a class to run. If we have to cancel a class due to low enrollment, we will notify you at least two days before the class is scheduled to begin. If you need more notice, we suggest you call or email the office to check enrollment.

If we have to cancel your class, you can request a full refund of your tuition or transfer to another course of your choice, space permitting.

What if I cannot attend a course as planned?

If you need to withdraw from a class and notify us at least 24 hours before the class starts, you have the option of transferring to another class or you may receive a credit or refund of the course fee less an administrative fee of $5.  Please leave a voice mail message if calling after hours.

No refunds will be made once a class has started.  Failure to attend class does not constitute a request to cancel your enrollment.  A "no show" is obligated for the full tuition.

Are your classes handicapped accessible?

UL Lafayette Continuing Education is committed to making its classes accessible whenever possible. We seek to accomodate all persons with disabilities for our programs.  If you require accomodations, please notify this office in writing 14 days in advance to make arrangements.

Where do I park?

For classes held at the Continuing Education Center during evening hours and on weekends:
Parking is available in the lot in front of our facility (Zone 42).  If our lot is full, you may park in Zone 34, the overflow parking lot at our Annex building.  Additional parking is also available in Zone 36.  The entrance into the Zone 36 parking lot can be accessed by proceeding north (headed towards Congress St.) on St. Mary Boulevard.  Once you cross Brook St. and pass up Old Tyme Grocery you will take a left onto Cherry St.  The entrance will be on your left before the UL Lafayette Bus Barn.  This will be a very short walk to our building.

For classes held at the Continuing Education Center during the weekday:
Parking is available in the lot in front of our facility (Zone 42).  If Zone 42 is full, you may park in Zone 34, the overflow parking lot at our Annex building.

There are no left turns allowed from Johnston St onto Albert and Mildred St from 7:00 - 9:00 am and 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

or off-campus:
Parking instructions will be noted in the class confirmation.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding parking please call our office at (337) 482-6391.

What happens in case of inclement weather?

During regular office hours you may call our office at (337) 482-6391.

For announcements of school closings due to inclement weather, please check the university's main website, www.louisiana.edu or call (337) 482-2222.  UL Lafayette Continuing Education will not issue refunds for classes that have been postponed due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control. We will make every effort to reschedule such classes.

Can I make up missed classes?

Students may not make up absences by attending classes other than their own.

If a class session is postponed by an instructor or due to extreme weather or an unforseen emergency, a make-up will be scheduled.

What if I am not satisfied with a class?

We are proud of the quality of our programs. If you are not satisfied with a class, please contact us immediately and we will do everything within our power to address your concerns.
